Finals are coming up, but the Dems aren't done yet. Congratulations to our newly-elected 2008 College Dems Executive Board – Adam Feiler, Matt Hardin, Ryan Guptill, Chris Dodge, Julie Alcarez, Caitie Boland, and Ali Rozell!

I.    Finals Study Break: Dems West Wing Watch – with FREE food!
Saturday
, December 8, 1 to 5 PM, Village C Alumni Lounge

This Saturday, from 1 to 5 PM in the Village C Alumni Lounge, the College Dems will be hosting our annual West Wing Watch finals study break. Come join the Dems for free food and four of the finest episodes of the best TV show ever made. Take some time off studying and stop by for a few minutes, a whole episode, or even four hours of President Jed Bartlet. We'll see you there!

Congratulations to the 2008 College Dems Executive Board, elected last Tuesday:

Communications Director – Chris Dodge, SFS '10

The new board will take office on the first day of classes next semester – January 9, 2008. We wish them the best of luck, and look forward to an amazing new year for the Dems!


III.     Apply for the 2008 Dems Appointed Board!

       Deadline: December 15

       Application – FAQ – Position Descriptions

In order to get a quick start to next semester, applications are now available for the 2008 College Dems Appointed Board! If you wish to apply for an Appointed Board position, please submit your application by email to GUDemsEBoard@gmail.com by December 15, 2007. Please also sign up for an interview on the door of the Dems office at Leavey 430. All interviews will be conducted on January 12th and January 13th from 1PM-5PM. **Please note that these interviews are the first weekend after winter break.**

If you don't want to be on the Appointed Board, but still want to be involved on the Dems leadership as part of the communications staff, events team, or as a dorm captain, you need not submit an application by email until January 11. (Don't worry; we'll send out a reminder well before then.)

This year will be a great one for Dems, and we want your input to make 2008 an enormous success. So please submit your ideas!

VI.    Spring Internships and the Dems Internship Database

Office of Senator Charles E. Schumer (D-NY)

PRESS INTERN - Northeast Democrat press office offers 2008 Winter/Spring Full-Time Press Internships in their Washington, DC office. Part-Time interns will also be considered but candidates with full-time availability will be given preference. The hours will be long but the experience is priceless. Start date: Late December or Early January through April/May. Duties include compiling press clips, organizing press conferences, conducting research studies and assisting Communications Director with day to day tasks. Candidates do not need to be from the Northeast, but an understanding of the region's geography and issues is a plus. Background in politics and press not required but candidates must have general understanding of governmental process and interest in communications. Each day is different, so flexibility and willingness to learn combined with dedication is crucial. The position is unpaid. Sutter's Mill Fundraising & Strategy

Sutter's Mill Fundraising & Strategy, a nationally recognized Democratic campaign fund raising and consulting firm is seeking an intern. Sutter's Mill provides an excellent work and learning environment for people interested in the fields of government, campaign finance, and Political Action Committee fund raising.

Interns for Sutter's Mill have the opportunity to see first hand how campaign fund raising and consulting work from an inside prospective. Interns will have the chance to work with members of Congress as well as our veteran fund raisers and consultants. The duties of the intern include, but are not limited to, updating Political Action Committee data, making "hill runs" to client's offices, assisting with the planning and implementation of fund raising events, and general support work for Sutter's Mill Partners and Political Associate.

Sutter's Mill interns will enjoy a transportation stipend as well as a flexible work schedule that accommodates your class schedule.
